R444SPY SILVER AGZ
Hi all, I bought my V5 around 5 years ago as a daily runner. I had no idea about the V5 and mainly bought it as they were cheaper than the GTI's. I was impressed after the test drive and soon realised how smooth the engine was and how easy and comfortable it was to drive on the motorway and snapped it up. Once I actually took the time to do some research on what I had bought I read so many people slate them and big up the GTI and made me wonder if I had indeed 'not chosen wisely'. Four years later and utter driving pleasure I would not swap my car for anything else. The car as it is and drives now is a different animal. I have done the following mods so far;
DNA Tuning Stage 1 remap
Custom cold air intake (my own design)
Powerflow custom cat back exhaust
V6 4motion rear valance
JOM coil overs, lowered around 60mm
18" alloys with 205/35/18 tyres
Spacers front and back
Audi TT front suspension parts
Denso Iridium power spark plugs
New fuel pump
New fuel filter
New OEM red HT leads
New ignition amplifier
New coil pack
New radiator
New thermostat housing and thermostat
4 bar Fuel Pressure Regulator
Private plate
I haven't had it on a dyno (it's too low) and am not really interested in bhp anyway, I just know it's got bags of torque, goes like a rocket and sounds like a V10. Every single penny I have spent has been worth it and I intend to keep it as long as possible. My next mods will be to colour code the front and back valances in reflex silver. I will then add either the R32 or anniversary side skirts again colour coded. I am also considering buying and fitting either the Carlicious stage 2/3 supercharger kit or their 300bhp/400bhp turbo kit at the end of this year. 3 pictures are below, any comments/questions welcome.

I have now colour coded my front and rear valances and am looking for side skirts at the moment. Will hopefully be uploading some videos soon once the weather cheers up.

I thought V5's were meant to be slow???
Just wondering how much power and torque my V5 is pushing at the moment. Was motorway driving tonight and on a flat and downhill stretch was able to tail a Porsche Carrera from around 20mph up to about 70mph on a couple of occasions lol. After that I had a bit of fun with a Golf GTi Anniversary (52 plate 180bhp petrol) and was easily able to pull away from it? Might have to get it on the rollers for a power run before I look to get my cam grinded.

Re: R444SPY SILVER AGZ
is it the 20v(170) engine? if it is, you could be running as much as 195bhp with those mods if the engine has had an easy life and is well looked after ect.
the carrera might of been toddling along in 5th gear

Re: R444SPY SILVER AGZ
Ha ha, yeah maybe just wishful thinking then with the Carrera. Mine did sound better though lol. I have the AGZ 10 valve which is why I was surprised with the anni. I'll have to get her up the strip to see what she is doing I guess.

Re: R444SPY SILVER AGZ
Yeah I'm thinking the same. Have you had your cams grinded before Inzor or know where to get them done in the UK?

Re: R444SPY SILVER AGZ
Yes was going to send them to carlicious or if not hunt for the right company in the UK. I asked Kent Cams but they said the cams didnt have much tolerance on them so wouldn't risk taking the job on.
