Squealing auxiliary part?
Okay I've explained this before on various forums but I'll start from scratch and be thorough to try and solve this problem once and for all!
After driving 10hrs straight through France the PAS pulley snapped clean off, tied the aux belt like a shoelace and the coolant bottle filled right up to the brim. Luckily the car wasn't cooked and just needed a few parts.
The car went to halfords auto enter I kent where a bunch of morons replaced everything leaving me with a loudly humming pas pump when the wheel was turned. After getting fed up with this and having no luck taking it back to them I got a mechanic to look at it, turns out they had routed the aux belt all wrong which essentially was spinning the PAS pump backwards!!
Long story short, I have replaced the PAS pump and pulley, aircon compressor (but haven't regassed it), alternator and clutch pulley, belt tensioner and the belt itself.
The car still hums loudly when turned unfortunately but I've learnt to live with that. My main problem is that there's a chirping sound on cold startup that only goes away after 10mins of driving and getting the car warm. I cannot work out what it is by listening to the engine but it's definitely on the auxiliary setup and by process of elimination I'm beginning to think its the water pump?
Thanks.

Re: Squealing auxiliary part?
yeah good idea i'll go and do it now. It sounds like the chirping people film all the time on mk4's that turns out to be the tensioner pulley.

Hi Qu1ksilver,
Have a look at the following forum topic, seems to be the same noise as you are hearing. Hope this is useful and helps resolve the issue.
